Just Like Dad

When Porter was getting ready Friday morning he held up a dress shirt and asked "Hey mom, can I wear this shirt today?" I replied "Porter, that shirt is to wear when you go to church." He came back with "But, Dad wears shirts like this when he goes to work and I want to wear this kind of shirt just like dad, then maybe I can go with him to the office." How could I then tell him no? Then I went and told Sam what happened and although he has been working from home most the time he suggested that he take Porter to the office for a couple hours. Sam said that while they were there Porter worked on his homework and pushed the print button every time Sam went to the printer. I guess someone saw him working on his workbook and offered him some crayons and he said "No, thanks I'm just gonna use a pen." I wanted to take a picture of Sam and Porter all dressed up for work! I think Sam was just as excited to take Porter with him as Porter was to go. After work they went and had lunch at In-n-Out and although Porter isn't a burger fan, I think he tried to impress his dad so he ate as much of it as he could stand.
A while ago Sam's mom gave me a paper that Sam had written when he was a little boy. It said "When I grow up I want to be a businessman and a dad and I want to have a cat". I wouldn't be surprised if Porter were to say the same thing (except he'd probably prefer a dog over a cat). He just wants to be so much like his dad and that makes me very happy!

Q. What are you guys doing???

A. We're gonna play basketball!!!
I have to say that these guys crack me up. I will have them all ready and dressed for the day and the next thing I know they are either dressed as cowboys, fighters (complete with Sam's boxing gloves), or the latest...Basketball players. I asked Porter who picked out Carter's outfit and he admitted proudly that he did it and got him dressed too. Should I be concerned that the boys like to play dress up? They have been begging me to make them capes so they can be superheroes and I can't wait to see what they come up with once I do.
These guys are way too much fun!!!!

Valentine's Day

For Valentine's Day this year Porter and I made play-do for all of his preschool friends and shaped them into hearts. Porter and Carter had so much fun making the dough and I was really proud of myself because it was probably the first time I've ever really let them do a lot of the work. Porter was really excited to give his friends the Valentines that he made. After preschool I asked Porter if he thought his friends liked the play-do and he said "Yeah, I thinked they liked it cause they all said 'Porter-sanks so much for this really cool play-do!'" I'm not exactly sure if this is how it really happened but it was funny to hear him say it anyway.
Sam took me to Disneyland during the day and we had so much fun. We've been wanting to go for awhile, just the two of us, and it was as much fun as we hoped it would be. We got to go on rides that we haven't been on in over five years and we managed to escape Disnelyand without going on The Buzz Ride and Dumbo. What a happy day!!!
After we picked up the boys we all went grocery shopping together for the yummy dinner that Sam was to make for us. He made Filet Mignon, Lobster Tail, Spinach Salad with avocado and strawberries and yummy honey-orange dressing, and asparagus. This meal had special meaning because he made one similar for me for our first Valentines Day. He is such an awesome cook! For dessert I made chocolate dipped strawberries and pretzels and the boys thought those were a real treat. Oh, and they also loved smashing the lobsters with the mallet.
All in all I think that this Valentines day was fun for our whole family and was
just what I was hoping for!

Splish Splash!!!!

Especially when Porter and Carter take baths. Porter and Carter love, love, love taking baths and I hate, hate, hate it. Although they have a ton of fun playing with their toys, dumping water on eachother and "swimming" in the tub, I go crazy because they get more water dumped outside of the tub rather than in. You walk into our bathroom when they've been in the tub andthere is water everywhere! Oh and Porter's newest practical joke to play on his brother is to fill a cup up with ice cold water and pour it over Carter's head. We've put an end to this so we no longer hear blood curdling screams coming from Carter while they are in the tub. I'm sure it is a matter of time before Porter figures out a new "trick". How is it that even when they are doing something they love, like taking a bath, they still try to torture eachother? Is this a brother thing? Is it really true that they will grow up to be the best of friends...cause sometimes I'm not so sure.

Those Hardworking Guys...

Back in December for Sam's birthday we went to Grandma Sherri's house to hang out and spend some time with her. One thing that the boys did while we were there was gather all of the leaves in her yard. They piled them up, jumped in, and piled the leaves up again. I know it is a little late but I thought I would share the pics anyway.

Porter and Carter with Grandma Sherri

Hardwork with a smile...just the way we like it!

Carter didn't mind raking the leaves--especially cause he had so much fun playing in the pile!

Wow Porter--you're so strong!!!

What a happy birthday boy!!!!

I love the way Sam makes things so much fun for the family. He has so many great ideas and knows how to make everything a blast!
