Carter's First Day of Preschool

I feel bad that it has taken me so long to post this picture, but better late than never, right?
Carter was talking all summer long about going to preschool at Ms. Michelle's and that day finally arrived! When I took him in there he was holding my hand so tight that I thought he might not let it go. Well, he did and he had a great day. The next day of preschool, Porter asked if he could walk him in and Carter was okay with it and there was no problem. The next day of preschool, Porter tried getting out of the car to walk his brother in again and Carter said "NO, I'm gonna go all by myself." Here we are a couple more weeks later and he will hardly gives me a kiss goodbye before walking in to preschool all on his own. Is this just the beginning of the end?

(Oh, and by the way Porter is totally enjoying Pre-K, not preschool, but Pre-K. He wants to make sure that everyone knows the distinction.)

A Trip to Oceanside with Grandma Sherri

Last week we spent a few days in Oceanside with Sherri. We spent a lot of time at the beach and it was so beautiful there. Porter had no problem playing in the water but Carter wouldn't really go down there without me or Sherri. The boys had the most fun jumping over the waves and looking for shells and sandcrabs.

After spending a few hours at the beach we would go and spend some time at the pool. Porter is just about ready to go without floaties and had so much time to practice. Carter was just in his happy place since he was able to spend so much of the day in water. He loves, loves, loves being in water.
Thank you so much Sherri for inviting us to spend the week with you. We all enjoyed it so much. In fact, the first thing Porter said to me this morning was "Mom, I had a lot of fun at the beach." We will always remember what a great vacation we got to have with Grandma Sherri.

Carter's 3rd Birthday!!

So here I am again catching up on my postings. Carter celebrated his 3rd birthday on the 22nd and oh --how much fun he had!!

He opened up some birthday presents from us first thing in the morning...he was having a little trouble with the tape and found his own way to work around it.
He told me he wanted donuts for his birthday breakfast so Sam got up before the boys even woke up so they would be there first thing for him to enjoy.
We went to the park and enjoyed some time with his friends.
He caught a lizard (with Sam's help of course at Grandma & Grandpa's house).
We threw him a super fun birthday party and watched "Underdog" in the backyard.
For one of the games we had everyone break up into their families and make a poster depicting Carter in his very own movie. The McLaughlin's won it with this super cute Super Carter poster.
We had lots of candy and popcorn for the movie but not before we all sang to Carter and had a piece of cake. I think Carter had a wonderful birthday. We love him so much and enjoy what a fun little guy he has become in these last few years.
