Just Like Dad

When Porter was getting ready Friday morning he held up a dress shirt and asked "Hey mom, can I wear this shirt today?" I replied "Porter, that shirt is to wear when you go to church." He came back with "But, Dad wears shirts like this when he goes to work and I want to wear this kind of shirt just like dad, then maybe I can go with him to the office." How could I then tell him no? Then I went and told Sam what happened and although he has been working from home most the time he suggested that he take Porter to the office for a couple hours. Sam said that while they were there Porter worked on his homework and pushed the print button every time Sam went to the printer. I guess someone saw him working on his workbook and offered him some crayons and he said "No, thanks I'm just gonna use a pen." I wanted to take a picture of Sam and Porter all dressed up for work! I think Sam was just as excited to take Porter with him as Porter was to go. After work they went and had lunch at In-n-Out and although Porter isn't a burger fan, I think he tried to impress his dad so he ate as much of it as he could stand.
A while ago Sam's mom gave me a paper that Sam had written when he was a little boy. It said "When I grow up I want to be a businessman and a dad and I want to have a cat". I wouldn't be surprised if Porter were to say the same thing (except he'd probably prefer a dog over a cat). He just wants to be so much like his dad and that makes me very happy!

I don't really know what to say except that Sam's cat wish was uh...quite manly! Porter sounds like a trooper!

When Sam saw the note that he had written he was very surprised that he had wanted a cat too! I like it, it probably shows a little something about his sensitive side.=)

What cute boys you have. I can't wait until the kids are older and want to do that.

That is a great story! I don't think my husband would offer to take any kids to work with him, you are very lucky!

How cute is that! I love that Porter wanted to do everything just like his dad. I also think it is awesome Sam took him to the office even though he was working from home just so Porter could go to work with dad! So fun!

That is way too cute! Those are moments that you will always remember. Jacob took Lizzy and Ryan to work with him today too and he made them help clean up the jobsite just like his dad used to do. Again...way cute.
